Football Recap: Cusick Skates Past Selport with Ease

Cusick won the last time they faced SelPort and things went their way on Friday too. The Panthers blew past the Lumberjacks 55-14. The Panthers pushed the score to 39-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lumberjacks had little chance of recovering from.

Despite the loss, SelPort saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Blaine Rieckers (Northport) rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Rieckers (Northport) really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-4. As for SelPort, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Cusick will host Republic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 61.4 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for SelPort, they are taking a road trip to challenge Inchelium at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lumberjacks will need to watch out since the Hornets have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
