Softball Game Preview: Ravenscroft Ravens vs. Durham Academy Cavaliers

The Ravenscroft Ravens will square off against the Durham Academy Cavaliers at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Ravenscroft's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.

Ravenscroft took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Wake Christian Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Ravens skirted past the Bulldogs 10-9.

Audriana Gaught spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and eight unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Macie Mackinnon and Cole MacKinnon did most of the damage at the plate: Mackinnon went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs, while MacKinnon went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Mackinnon has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jesi Porfirio, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Ravenscroft always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Durham Academy lost 12-2 to GRACE Christian on Wednesday. The Cavaliers have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Durham Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Claire Lynch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Durham Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Ravenscroft, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Ravenscroft has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Durham Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
