Preview: Cherry Tigers vs. Forest Lake Rangers
The Cherry Tigers will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Forest Lake Rangers at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cherry will be looking to keep their 13-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Cherry has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 33 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 92-56 victory over Moose Lake/Willow River at home. Given Cherry's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Moose Lake/Willow River is ranked 39th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cherry's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Asuma, who scored 20 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Brown, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Meanwhile, even though Coon Rapids scored an imposing 74 points on Friday, Forest Lake still came out on top. Forest Lake skirted past Coon Rapids 76-74.
Cherry's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Forest Lake, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
