Baseball Game Preview: Swett Warriors vs. Bethel Jaguars

The Swett Warriors will face off against the Bethel Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Swett will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Swett is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Richmond get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Oilers: they've now won seven in a row.

Michael Golden was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Swett is 4-0-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Golden was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Swett got a big performance out of Jayden Barker, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Richard Brown, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Swett was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Hercules hit Bethel with a four-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Jaguars came up short against the Titans, falling 11-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Jaguars in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost three in a row.

Bethel's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Swett, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4-2.

Swett skirted past Bethel 6-5 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
