Football Recap: Maranatha Christian Skates Past Orange Glen with Ease

Maranatha Christian won the last time they faced Orange Glen and things went their way on Friday too. The Eagles breezed past the Patriots to the tune of 42-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

River Contreras had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 92 yards and one score. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Maranatha Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 252 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Maranatha Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Dane Johnson and Michael Amodeo. Amodeo got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Orange Glen lost, don't look at Xadan Wilde. Despite the final result, he rushed for 88 yards and one touchdown on only five carries, and also threw for 108 yards on six of 17 attempts.

Maranatha Christian now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Orange Glen, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Coming up, Maranatha Christian will head out on the road to challenge Coronado at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Orange Glen, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against El Cajon Valley at 7:00 p.m.
