It's playoff time, and Chula Vista had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 48-40 victory over the Classical Academy Caimans on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Spartans as they're now sitting on five straight.

Chula Vista's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Giovanni Contreras, who posted 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Gillespie, who had 14 points.

Several Caimans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joseph Lanzone, who put up eight points in addition to eight steals and five rebounds. Those eight steals gave Lanzone a new career-high. Nathan French was another key player, going 6-for-12 en route to 15 points.

Chula Vista's victory bumped their record up to 22-6. As for Classical Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season.

Chula Vista will face off against Escondido at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chula Vista is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.7 points per game this season. Classical Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
