Softball Game Preview: Lancaster Eagles vs. Silverado Hawks

The Lancaster Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Silverado Hawks at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Lancaster fell victim to Castaic and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coyotes. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Silverado earned a 7-4 victory over Burroughs on Monday. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Burros recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Alexis Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Alyzzah Piceno and Valerie Beltran did most of the damage at the plate: Piceno went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Beltran went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Piceno a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aryhana Shyne, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

The victory got Silverado back to even at 1-1. As for Lancaster, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Lancaster came out on top in a nail-biter against Silverado in their previous matchup back in February of 2025, sneaking past 8-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
