Longwood put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down the Dunbar Mightymen 30-13. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Mightymen are ranked 316th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Longwood pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.0 points per game. As for Dunbar, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-4 record.

After both having extra time off, Longwood and Woodlawn will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Dunbar, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on EPIC Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Dunbar is facing EPIC Academy at the right time seeing as EPIC Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
