Baseball Recap: Fenwick Gets the Win

Fenwick lost to Whitney Young back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Friars came out on top against the Dolphins by a score of 6-1.

Fenwick got a great performance from Gabriel Montes as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Fenwick saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Davis, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Davis hit this season. Another was Ryan Lazewski, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Fenwick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whitney Young only posted an OBP of .276.

Fenwick's victory bumped their record up to 4-6-1. As for Whitney Young, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Fenwick will venture away from home to square off against IC Catholic Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Whitney Young, they will welcome Lane Tech at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Champions will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Dolphins surely won't give up without a fight.
