Basketball Recap: Gavin Cox Key Part of a Team Effort in Cougars Win

Campbell County won the last time they faced Oneida and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Campbell County Cougars came out on top against the Oneida Indians by a score of 60-50.

Campbell County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gavin Cox out in front who went 6 for 9 en route to 18 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Cox a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (80%). Another player making a difference was Will Croley, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Oneida's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Grady Keeton, who posted 19 points and three steals, and Ben Gilbert, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Oneida is 5-2 when Gilbert posts ten or more boards, but 4-11 otherwise. Jesse Zachary was another key player, putting up five points and six rebounds.

Campbell County's win bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Oneida, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-13.

Campbell County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-48 loss against Heritage on the 7th. As for Oneida, they have also already played their next matchup, a 74-44 defeat against Gatlinburg-Pittman on the 7th.
