Basketball Recap: Marquette Comes Up Short

Marquette was the 64-49 winner over Howell Central when they last played one another back in December of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Marquette Mustangs were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 65-64 to the Howell Central Spartans. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mustangs came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Spartans are ranked 275th).

This is the second loss in a row for Marquette and nudges their season record down to 4-2. As for Howell Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-6.

Marquette will host Eureka at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. As for Howell Central, they will head out on the road to take on Fort Zumwalt West at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
