Baseball Recap: Nekoosa Papermakers vs. Stratford Tigers
Nekoosa extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-7 in the process. They came up short against the Stratford Tigers, falling 13-1. If the Papermakers were looking for revenge after losing 5-2 to the Tigers when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Stratford, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by ten runs or more this season.
For Stratford's part, Brady Berg made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Berg a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with five RBI and one double.
In other pitching news, Kolton Haupt looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Riley Spindler was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Matt Schoenfuss, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
Nekoosa has already played their next contest (against Wisconsin Dells), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Stratford also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Assumption.
