2016 Maine Preseason Softball Fab 5, presented by the Army National Guard

1. Messalonskee (Oakland)
Head coach: Leo Bouchard
2015 record: 17-3

The Eagles took home the Class A state title last season, and will be formidable again in 2016. Catcher and team leader Tyler Easter returns to lead the defense and pitching staff.

2. Scarborough
Head coach: Tom Griffin
2015 record: 19-1



The Red Storm lost their first game of the year in the state title game — a 1-0 loss to Messalonskee. Kirsten Pelletier was the hard luck loser, but she and Scarborough will be out for revenge in 2016.

3. Yarmouth
Head coach: Amy Ashley
2015 record: 17-3

Yarmouth took home the Class B title last season, busting out 12 hits in the process. Ashley returns senior Colleen Sullivan, who knocked in four run title game.

4. Hermon
Head coach: Megan McCrum
2015 record: 17-3



Hermon fell to Yarmouth in the Class B title game, but should be out for revenge in 2016. Karli Theberge will return to lead the way.

5. Little (Auburn)
Head coach: Elaine Derosby
2015 record: 13-5

Edward Little made it to the regional semifinals last year, but Derosby is confident that they can get farther this season. Leading the way will be senior pitcher Sarah Hammond.
