Basketball Game Preview: Prospect Knights vs. Hersey Huskies

The Prospect Knights will head out on the road to take on the Hersey Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Prospect is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Benet Academy, who was ranked first at the time (Prospect was ranked 17th). Prospect lost to Benet Academy on the road by a 58-40 margin on Saturday. The Knights' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Despite their loss, Prospect saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Allison Linke, who went 5 of 11 en route to 16 points in addition to seven boards and five blocks, was perhaps the best of all. The contest was Linke's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Neve Pomis, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Hersey suffered their biggest defeat since December 14, 2024 on Monday. They came up short against Waubonsie Valley, falling 69-47. It was the first time this season that the Huskies let down their fans at home.

Prospect's loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 17-5. As for Hersey, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-9.

Prospect didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Hersey when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 33-29 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Prospect since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
