Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Carmel Sundevils vs. Classical Academy Caimans

The Mt. Carmel Sundevils will take on the Classical Academy Caimans in a tournament on Friday. Mt. Carmel's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Classical Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Mt. Carmel saw some tournament action on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over Scripps Ranch.

Mt. Carmel got a great performance from Shane Carter as he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Atticus Enriquez was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Bryce Miller was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Classical Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Mission Hills on Wednesday and fell 3-1. The Caimans have struggled against the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Classical Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Gallego, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Classical Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Mt. Carmel, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-4.
