South Putnam had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the North Putnam Cougars 53-33 on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-19.
Ty Benton had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 300 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 65 yards. Drew Cline was another key player, throwing for 197 yards and three TDs on only nine passes.
