Basketball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Ocracoke's Winning Streak

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Ocracoke can now relate to. They lost 66-45 to the Lejeune Devil Pups on Friday. The Dolphins' loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lejeune to victory, but perhaps none more so than Devon Charles, who posted 25 points and seven boards. Charles' evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Shea, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten rebounds.

Ocracoke's defeat dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Lejeune, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Ocracoke does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lejeune, they are taking a road trip to face off against Washington County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lejeune knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 contests -- so hopefully Washington County likes a good challenge.
