Volleyball Game Preview: Koyuk Malimiut Malemutes vs. Shaktoolik Wolverines

The Koyuk Malimiut Malemutes will face off against the Shaktoolik Wolverines on Friday. Shaktoolik took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Koyuk Malimiut, who comes in off a win.

Last Saturday, Koyuk Malimiut earned a 3-1 victory over Gambell. The Malemutes haven't had any issues with the King Polar Bear recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Koyuk Malimiut had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-18.

Shaktoolik had taken Martin L Olson down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Saturday. The Wolverines fell just short of the Lynx by a score of 3-2. While the Wolverines didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lynx 25-18 in the first set.

While Shaktoolik ultimately came up short, they really made Martin L Olson work, particularly in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-22, 27-25, 25-27, 15-11.

Koyuk Malimiut's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Shaktoolik, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
