Baseball Recap: Valley Oaks CES Vanguards vs. Sun Valley Magnet Pioneers

Valley Oaks CES had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-8 to make it five. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sun Valley Magnet Pioneers. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Vanguards couldn't push the score so high this time.

Valley Oaks CES saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andre Zuniga, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Sun Valley Magnet, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

On Sun Valley Magnet's side, Diego Loredo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up 13 Ks. Loredo has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Manuel Marquez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leonard Chavez Jr., who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
