Softball Recap: Indian Creek Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Indian Creek extended their winning streak to four on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 7-2 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Greenfield-Central Cougars. This was payback for the Braves, who suffered a 7-6 loss the last time these two teams met.

Delaney Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kristen Soots, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one triple. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times she's played. Ma'Ryah Caul also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

As for Greenfield-Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs.

On Greenfield-Central's side, Savvanna Riall was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Charlotte Riehle was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Indian Creek and Greenfield-Central should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Braves will take on Edinburgh at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (38 vs. 211). Meanwhile, Greenfield-Central (ranked 23rd) will meet Delta (ranked 221st) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
