Volleyball Recap: Straughn Tigers vs. Opp Bobcats
Straughn was the 3-2 winner over Opp when they last played one another back in October of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Straughn Tigers fell 2-0 to the Opp Bobcats on Saturday. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
While Straughn was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-14.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Opp to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carreline Spears, who had nine digs and seven kills. Spears is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in the last ten games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madie Wilson, who had six digs and 16 assists.
Straughn's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Opp, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.
Straughn's road trip will continue as they head out to face Opp at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Opp, they will face off against Providence Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
