Football Game Preview: Greenbrier Wolfpack vs. Lakeside Panthers

The Greenbrier Wolfpack will face off against the Lakeside Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Greenbrier and nine for Lakeside dating back to last season.

Greenbrier fought the good fight in their overtime contest against South Effingham on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 34-28 to the Mustangs.

Greenbrier might have lost, but man, Parker Brantley was a machine: he threw for 142 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 96 yards and one score.

Meanwhile, Lakeside also fell in overtime overtime action on Friday. They took a 36-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Statesboro. On the bright side, the 29- point effort marked the Panthers' highest-scoring game to date.

Greenbrier will have to contain Matthew White as he made an impact in Lakeside's last game. He picked up 134 receiving yards and three TDs. White was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 51 yards.

Greenbrier's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Lakeside, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Greenbrier ended up a good deal behind Lakeside when the teams last played back in October of 2024, losing 28-14. Thankfully for the Wolfpack, Ty Jones (who rushed for 129 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
