Soccer Game Preview: Emporia vs. Liberal

The Emporia Spartans will challenge the Liberal Redskins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Liberal will be up against a hot Emporia team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Spartans' defense stepped up to hand Heights an 8-0 shutout on Monday. Emporia's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three contests.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Liberal). They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Alva on Tuesday. It was an even better day for Liliana Guy as she scored five goals for her team.

Liberal's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Emporia, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
