Redding Christian extended the longest winning streak in California - North (8 Man) this week by beating Butte Valley, 42-7. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Big Valley made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,023 from 1,168. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 40-12 victory over Happy Camp last week.
The Cardinals' dynamic duo of Hunter Hawkins and Alberto Ortega proved tough for the Indians to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hawkins threw for 267 yards and four touchdowns and Ortega had 267 yards receiving.
Hayden Piper provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Redding Christian bested the Bulldogs. He completed eight passes for 144 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for 243 yards. Piper's favorite target this week was David Griffin, who caught two passes for 55 yards.
Justin Declusin was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 11 carries, he ran for 257 yards as Dunsmuir beat Happy Camp. Teammate Dayton Pepperdine added to the ground attack by rushing for 99 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Steve Gagnon's team takes on Butte Valley. The Cardinals are currently in fifth, while Jason Allen's team is in third.
