Basketball Game Preview: Southern Lee Cavaliers vs. Union Pines Vikings

Southern Lee is 0-10 against Union Pines since February of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Southern Lee Cavaliers will host the Union Pines Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Southern Lee turned things around against Hoke County on Tuesday. They strolled past the Bucks with points to spare, taking the game 52-36.

Meanwhile, Union Pines put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their match with ease, bagging a 73-43 win over Hoke County. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 22 points or more this season.

Union Pines' victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-0. As for Southern Lee, their win ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-8.

Southern Lee was taken down by Union Pines 82-16 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Union Pines' Taryn Pekala, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten steals.
