Basketball Recap: Grimsley Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Alyssa Graves and Shyla Simms

Grimsley suffered their biggest defeat since December 20, 2024 on Tuesday. They came up short against the Northwest Guilford Vikings, falling 57-37. The Whirlies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vikings earlier this season, when they won 42-39.

Shyla Simms and Alyssa Graves certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Simms posted 11 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, while Graves scored 12 points and seven boards. Simms is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last nine games she's played. Xariah Simmons was another key player, putting up four points.

Grimsley's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Northwest Guilford, they pushed their record up to 16-9 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home.

Grimsley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-41 victory against Ardrey Kell on the 25th. As for Northwest Guilford, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-53 defeat against Northern Guilford on the 21st.
