Recap: Monarch Knights vs. Northeast Hurricanes
After a string of three wins, the Monarch Knights's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost to Northeast at home by a decisive 56-42 margin. While losing is never fun, Monarch can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 357th, while Northeast is ranked 58th).
Monarch lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jamir Davis, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davis has scored all season. Samari Reed was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Monarch's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Northeast, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monarch will take on Coral Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northeast, Northeast and Western will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Western will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
