Volleyball Recap: Rocky Ford Takes a Loss

Rocky Ford had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it 11. They came up short against the La Junta Tigers, falling 3-0. If the Meloneers were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for La Junta, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since October 8, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

La Junta was led to victory by Mia Whatley and Brooklyn Lovato. Whatley had nine digs and seven aces, while Lovato had ten digs and five aces. Those seven aces gave Whatley a new career-high.

Coming up, Rocky Ford will take on Center at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for La Junta, they will face off against Pueblo County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
