Softball Recap: Escondido Charter Drops Highest Score of Season Against Madison

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Escondido Charter). Everything went their way against the Madison Warhawks on Monday as the Escondido Charter Tigers made off with a 12-2 victory. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Selena Salas, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Natalya Powers was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Salas wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Escondido Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison only managed three hits.

Escondido Charter has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. Madison now has a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Escondido Charter will challenge Coastal Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Coastal Academy's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Madison, they will take on Southwest EC at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
