Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Paul Herb and Carter Lovell Lead Sprague to Victory

Sprague and Sheldon pushed the score to 45-17 the last time they played Sheldon, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Olympians strolled past the Irish with points to spare, taking the game 14-0. With that win, the Olympians brought their scoring average up to 27.6 points per game.

Leading Sprague to victory were Carter Lovell and Paul Herb. Lovell rushed for 96 yards and one TD on only seven carries, while Herb rushed for 88 yards and one touchdown. Those 88 rushing yards gave Herb a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sprague was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 221 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 172 rushing yards in five consecutive games.

Sprague didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gabe Flynn and Max Makarenko. Another thorn in Sheldon's side was Bohdi Jones, who picked up three sacks, forced three fumbles, and made seven total tackles.

Sprague now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Sheldon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
