Baseball Game Preview: Pennsbury Falcons vs. Perkiomen Valley Vikings

The Pennsbury Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Perkiomen Valley Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pennsbury's pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so Perkiomen Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Pennsbury is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Haverford by a score of 4-0.

Meanwhile, it was close, but last Tuesday Perkiomen Valley sidestepped Downingtown East for a 4-2 win.

Michael Strechay made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Strechay wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rowan Dalton, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. That RBI was Dalton's first of the season.

Perkiomen Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Pennsbury, their record is now 16-6-1.

Pennsbury beat Perkiomen Valley 3-0 when the teams last played back in June of 2017. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
