Baseball Game Preview: Mamou Demons vs. Church Point Bears

For the first time this season, Mamou will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Thursday. They will take on the Church Point Bears at 6:00 p.m. Mamou is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Mamou proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Merryville 7-6. While the Demons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Church Point not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 22nd. They put the hurt on Hamilton Christian with a sharp 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Waylon Castille, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted over his last nine games. Caiden B also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Mamou pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Church Point, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Mamou took their victory against Church Point in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-5. Does Mamou have another victory up their sleeve, or will Church Point turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
