California Top 25 high school football scores: Five playoff games decided by combined 23 points

Chaminade stuns No. 20 Norco 46-44 in Division 2, while No. 10 Grace Brethren, No. 19 Rarncho Verde, No. 21 Alemany and No. 25 Camarillo score narrow wins.

Ohio State-bound cornerback leads La Habra into Southern Section D3 playoffs. 

On a night when the top six teams in California were idle, there was loads of excitement in the Golden State.

All of it centered around Southern Section's first-round playoff action. 

Five different games featuring ranked teams were decided by a total of 23 points, including un-ranked Chaminade pulling out a 46-44 Division 2 victory over No. 20 Norco.

The rest of the ranked teams survived, but barely, including No. 19 Rancho Verde (Moreno Valley) going overtime to beat Serra (Gardena) 26-20, also in D2 play.

In D3, 10th-ranked Grace Brethren pulled out a 42-38 win over Westlake and in D4, No. 25 Camarillo edged Damien, 34-28.

The only game on Saturday features No. 17 Serra (San Mateo) against St. Ignatius (San Francisco).
