Softball Preview: A Rolling Gering Meets a Wounded Mccook

The Gering Bulldogs will challenge The McCook Bison at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. McCook took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Gering, who comes in off a win.

Coming off of a narrow one-run win over Scottsbluff, Gering left no doubt about the outcome versus Alliance on Tuesday. Gering was the clear victor by a 17-2 margin over Alliance. The contest marked Gering's most dominant win of the season so far.

Emma Wilson was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances while posting 1 home run, 3 runs, and 2 RBIs. Wilson has been consistently good when it comes to runs: she's scored 1+ every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help from Hope Mitchell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 while logging 3 RBIs, 2 runs, and 1 walk.

Gering swung out of their shoes and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they have managed all season.

Meanwhile, McCook came up short against Cozad on Tuesday and fell 7-3.

Gering has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That run has powered them to a 4-3 record this season. The victories were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for McCook, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.
