Basketball Game Preview: Gloucester City Lions vs. Highland Regional Tartans

The Gloucester City Lions and the Highland Regional Tartans will round out the year against one another at at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Gloucester City will be strutting in after a win while Highland Regional will be coming in after a loss.

Highland Regional is hoping to do what Florence Township Memorial couldn't on Friday: put an end to Gloucester City's winning streak, which now stands at three games. In a tight match that could have gone either way, Gloucester City made off with a 53-52 victory over Florence Township Memorial.

Jake Smith was a one-man wrecking crew for Gloucester City as he dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. The game was Smith's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Flagg, who posted nine points and five steals.

Meanwhile, Highland Regional came up short against Delsea on Friday and fell 46-39. The Tartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Highland Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Gloucester City, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Gloucester City won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in January, slipping by Highland Regional 55-54. Will Gloucester City repeat their success, or does Highland Regional have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
