Marvell Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 40-6 win over the Franklin Academy Cougars. The Eagles pushed the score to 32-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cougars had little chance of recovering from.

Marvell Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from John Wilson, who rushed for 141 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries, and also picked up 37 receiving yards. Wilson's longest rush was for an impressive 58 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Jorden Miller was another key player, rushing for 131 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

Marvell Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hebron Christian at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Franklin Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Tallulah Academy.
