Soccer Recap: Saluda's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

Saluda fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Newberry on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Newberry this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in March.

Luis Valdez and Iram San Miguel scored all three of Saluda's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Saluda moved to 6-4 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Newberry, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Saluda didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against Brookland-Cayce on the 14th. As for Newberry, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Providence at 7:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
