Basketball Game Preview: Saint Viator Lions vs. Marist RedHawks

Saint Viator is 0-10 against Marist since February of 2016 but things could change on Saturday. The Saint Viator Lions will head out to face off against the Marist RedHawks at 2:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Wednesday, Saint Viator was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 37-36 to Marian Catholic. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Spartans are ranked 26th).

Meanwhile, Marist was beaten by Benet Academy 71-35 on Wednesday. The game marked the RedHawks' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Marist's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5. As for Saint Viator, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.

Saint Viator ended up a good deal behind Marist when the teams last played back in February of 2024, losing 70-54. Can Saint Viator avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
