Baseball Recap: Graford's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Graford waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Hico Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-2 last Tuesday.

Cye Lemley made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March.

In other batting news, Trenton Ragle was incredible, scoring four runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Reed Feeguson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Graford's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-5. As for Hico, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9-1 record this season.

Graford will square off against Poolville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hico, they will face off against Lipan at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
