Baseball Recap: Sotomayor Victorious

While Sotomayor's win against Taft wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The WILDCATS sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Raiders on Wednesday. The WILDCATS haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Wes Guardiola was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Guardiola wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jace Cano, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Sotomayor's victory bumped their record up to 11-5-1. As for Taft, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Sotomayor will have a chance to go back-to-back against Taft: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
