Basketball Recap: El Campo Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

El Campo was the 61-26 winner over Columbia when they last played one another back in November of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The El Campo Ricebirds fell 50-43 to the Columbia Roughnecks on Friday.

Despite the loss, El Campo still got an impressive performance from Riannah Miles, who went 8 of 19 on her way to 25 points and four steals. Miles is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played. Madison Holmes was another key player, putting up a point along with seven rebounds, seven steals, and six assists.

Even though they lost, El Campo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 15 consecutive contests.

Hayley Broussard had an outrageously good game for Columbia as she dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 boards. With that strong performance, Broussard is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery White, who posted seven points and three steals.

El Campo's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-11. As for Columbia, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-7.

El Campo has already played their next game, a 41-39 defeat against La Marque on the 14th. As for Columbia, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 38-36 loss against Bay City on the 14th.
