The Hilltop Cadets will face off against the Edgerton Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hilltop is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
Hilltop's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Stryker as they made off with a 16-0 victory. The Cadets haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Brennan Dempsey made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Dempsey was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brady Wagner, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Devin Dempsey, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Hilltop always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stryker only posted an OBP of .158.
Meanwhile, Edgerton came up short against Leipsic on Saturday and fell 7-4.
Edgerton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Weaver, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Edgerton's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Hilltop, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Edgerton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hilltop hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. It's a different story for Edgerton, though, as they've only averaged .210. Will they be able to contain Hilltop's hitters?
Hilltop beat Edgerton 7-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Cadets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
