Baseball Recap: Cohasset Comes Up Short

Cohasset had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 4-4 to make it eight. They fell just short of the Dedham Marauders by a score of 10-9. The Skippers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Marauders earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

As for Dedham, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-6. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the contest before.

For Dedham's part, Liam Dowling made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Dowling has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cam Galvin was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Ryan Laughter also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Coming up, Cohasset will host Norwell at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Clippers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Skippers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Dedham, they will welcome Norton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
