Basketball Recap: St. Charles' Higher State Rank on Full Display on Tuesday

St. Charles won the last time they faced Dover-Eyota and things went their way on Tuesday too. The St. Charles Fighting Saints walked away with a 76-63 victory over the Dover-Eyota Eagles. Given the Fighting Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Eagles are ranked 323rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dover-Eyota's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Meyers, who posted 22 points. Meyers' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Jace Drilling was another key player, putting up 16 points.

St. Charles' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-5. As for Dover-Eyota, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Charles will challenge Plainview-Elgin-Millville at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Dover-Eyota, they will face off against Pine Island at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
