Baseball Game Preview: St. Joseph Wildcats vs. Pleasantville Greyhounds

For the second straight game, St. Joseph will face off against Pleasantville. The Wildcats will welcome the Greyhounds at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in St. Joseph's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.

On Monday, St. Joseph was able to grind out a solid win over Pleasantville, taking the game 10-7.

Jack Cassidy was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. St. Joseph is undefeated when Cassidy posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matt Thompson, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Liam Hurley was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Pleasantville moved to 5-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for St. Joseph, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
