Softball Game Preview: Sarcoxie Bears vs. Diamond Wildcats

Sarcoxie hasn't had much luck against Diamond recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bears are taking a road trip to challenge the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Neither Sarcoxie nor Diamond posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Sarcoxie came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Stockton, falling 18-2.

Meanwhile, Diamond faced Skyline in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-1. The Wildcats' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Lauren Turner put in work no matter where she played. She tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and one double.

Sarcoxie's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Diamond, their loss dropped their record down to 16-4.

Sarcoxie suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Diamond in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
