Marlington not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 4th (when they won 13-4). Everything went their way against the Carrollton Warriors as they made off with an 8-1 victory. Considering the Dukes have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Justine Doringo made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Chelsea Miller was incredible, firing off two home runs and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted over her last ten games. Another player making a difference was Payton Peterson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Marlington lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
