Football Game Preview: Palmyra Panthers vs. Raymond Central Mustangs

The Palmyra Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Raymond Central Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Palmyra has given up an average of 38.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Palmyra is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Bishop Neumann on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Panthers were beaten by the Cavaliers 63-24. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 21st).

Palmyra might have lost, but man, Levi Tramp was a machine: he rushed for 84 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries, and also picked up 30 receiving yards and one TD. Tramp's longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards.

Meanwhile, Raymond Central came up short against Lincoln Lutheran on Friday and fell 24-14.

This is the second loss in a row for Palmyra and nudges their season record down to 2-3. As for Raymond Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Palmyra was dealt a bruising 55-19 defeat at the hands of Raymond Central in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Panthers were down 42-6.
