Basketball Recap: Westminster Academy Piles Up the Points Against Northeast

Westminster Academy won the last time they faced Northeast and things went their way on Friday too. The Westminster Academy Lions breezed by the Northeast Hurricanes to the tune of 78-51. The Lions pushed the score to 63-33 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hurricanes cut but never quite recovered from.

Leading Westminster Academy to victory were Alex Constanza and Alexander Lloyd. Constanza dropped a double-double on 33 points and 14 boards, while Lloyd went 9 for 16 en route to 26 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Constanza has scored at least a third of Westminster Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Sharpe, who posted six points.

Several Hurricanes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dean Vital, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. That's the most points Vital has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Senior, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

Westminster Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.3 points per game. As for Northeast, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Westminster Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 66-61 defeat against Gibbs on the 18th. Northeast has also already played their next contest, a 64-26 loss against Boyd Anderson on the 21st.
