Basketball Game Preview: Central Rockets vs. St. Laurence Vikings

Having just played yesterday, the Central Rockets will jump right back in to play the St. Laurence Vikings at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. St. Laurence took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Central, who comes in off a win.

Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They skirted past St. Francis 61-59. The win was some much needed relief for the Rockets as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Audrey Lafleur, who posted 19 points and five assists. Lafleur is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Julia Scheuer was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, St. Laurence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Lyons 69-40. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while the Lions are ranked first).

St. Laurence's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.
